Why is abortion the primary moral issue of the day? Because it is the intentional killing of innocent human life. It is our nations version of The Holocaust. If we were in Nazi Germany during the time of Hitler's persecution of the Jew's, no one in their right mind would prioritize school vouchers over the release of the Jewish prisoners. Similarly, one should not be labeled a fanatic if they prioritize (reflected in their vote) the pro-life cause.
Abortion: The logic is simple.
1. The intentional killing of innocent human life is morally wrong.
2. Abortion is the intentional killing of innocent human life.
3. Therefore, abortion is morally wrong.
The first premise is rather obvious. The moral status of killing innocent human life should not be the disputed premise. That leaves the second premise to defend. Is abortion the intentional killing of innocent human life?
1. Abortion is not an accidental procedure. It is intentional.
2. Abortion does kill some kind of life.
3. That life is not guilty of some kind of crime deserving of death. It is innocent.
4. Abortions take the life of human beings.
5. Therefore, abortion is the intentional killing of innocent human life.
Only premise #4 is disputed among serious minded people. Therefore, the only premise that needs to be defended is the 4th premise. If abortions take the life of human beings, then abortion is morally wrong. If you would like to discuss this premise, please email me.
